Reply with quote | #1 | OK, now that the Fall marathon miles are behind us, who's thinking Spring marathon besides me? Yeah, I'm one of those sickos who need the next big goal.
I think Fargo would be a good destination. I say this mostly because I would like to bring the whole family this time, so we need a family friendly venue to encourage others to bring their kids.
Thoughts, other suggestions?
No, Shawn, I can't do Disney in January.

Reply with quote | #2 | I'm just throwing this one out there cuz it is near & dear to my heart, but the Flying Pig is the first weekend in May and offers a few different distances. It is drivable in a day, and Ron can visit his family in Kentucky . They also have kids events Drew.. Just a thought..

Reply with quote | #3 | Well Drew, since you brought it up....this may not be kid friendly or close vacation-like HOWEVER, I am thinking about either doing the full or half in Anchorage, Alaska for the Mayor's Marathon on June 19, 2010. And making a vacation out of it!
Please ponder at their website: http://www.mayorsmarathon.com/ |

Reply with quote | #4 | I have thought about it too...but closer to home...there is a marathon, 1/2, and 5k in LaCrosse, WI (lots of good party spots for afterward) or a marathon in Rochester Memorial Day weekend. http://www.marathonguide.com

JIm and I run Grandma's every year. Short drive, and we have free lodging at his parents. His dad looks forward to seeing Jim finish every year. |

Well I'm one of those sickos who runs a couple back to back, then sits on her a$$ for almost a whole year, gains 20 lbs., and has to start over from scratch.

Reply with quote | #11 | If a few are going to anchorage then I think Ross and I will be all over it.
It would be a slow race for me since it is only a few weeks after FANS but - what the hey, it would be Alaska. |

Reply with quote | #13 | So... Really early spring (okay, still winter but I can pretend it's spring)... I'm planning on doing the New Orleans Mardi Gras Half. It's on February 28th (and it just so happens my birthday is on Feb27th, so what a cool way to celebrate one's birthday).
Other than that, I don't have any thoughts until next fall (Disney's brand new Dine & Wine Half Marathon in October).

Time to dial in the spring plans.
I am gunning for the team to go to Fargo again, but another close option could be LaCrosse. There's a 1/2 and full. It's in it's second year and pictures look pretty nice. Some of the race is run down by the river.
Let's decide so people can wrap their heads around it and start thinking about building that base.
We also have a group going to Boston too. LaCrosse is the first weekend of May, Fargo is May 22nd so all races would be within 2-4 weeks of eachother. Those that are thinking about Anchorage could do the 1/2 at either race as part of their training.
