Polar bottles

I don't know if anyone is interested in this, but thought I would throw it out there. We have had some contact with the Polar bottle company about selling us their product with a MNRed logo on it. The cost breaks down like this:

There is a setup charge that we would have to split among those ordering on top of the bottle charge, so we would likely need interest from at least 20 people to consider this.

10: $21
15: $19.33
20: $18.50
25: $16
30: $15.67

Plus there will be a shipping charge, which I don't think would amount to much. They also say that orders that can be ready to ship before March 1st get a $0.50 per bottle discount.

I've got a sample (not with MNRed logo) if you want to see it.

Please post if you are interested or want to see the sample.

Polar Bottles

1.
Fox News - Alexandria Get Your Rear in Gear Event

For those of you still following and supporting the Get Your Rear in Gear events. I wanted to share some news that this morning was amazing. With loss, there is no boundary. The last couple of days, I've had the pleasure of working with the Alexandria Get Your Rear in Gear team for their inaugural event - in memory of Tony Snow (former United States Press Secretary who died of colon cancer last year).

There was a lot of hard work by many MN RED team members to get the event started to support a couple of members who had lost loved ones to the un-talked about disease (we're changing that - thanks to you). MN RED still puts us on the list as a race "to do" in the calendar. This has been appreciated. Many RED members continue to volunteer or run in the event.

We worked hard several years ago together for a morning like the attached national news. We will be on Fox & Friends again in the a.m. - national. That is, unless a bomb drops.

http://www.getyourrearingearblog.com/events/fox-news-coverage-of-get-your-rear-in-gear-5k-honoring-tony-snow/

Greece Marathon

More than 3600 athletes have passed the starting line. The winner of the 27th Marathon is KIPKURUI JOSEPHAT in 2:13:44. First Greek athlete to cross the finish line was THEODORAKAKOS DIMITRIOS in 2:26:27. The weather was rainy, especially at the first half of the race, which was the main reason that times where not so fast. First woman is OZAKI AKEMI in 2:39:56. First Greek woman athlete is AMPATZIDOU GEORGIA in 2:44:23.

Athens was great! I got home last night around 8 pm and didn't get to bed till 1am. I'm at work and running on caffeine! I ended up running 4:38 according to the race clock (I screwed up my Garmin at some point). We started the race in a downpour which eventually turned to sun/humidity. Lots of long gradual hills. I felt good till around mile 19 when my left knee "twanged" and thought I'd have to hail a swag wagon but it worked itself out enough for me to finish.

Too much walking in the days prior; different time zone; lack of sleep; and unfamiliar food don't lead to a PR but that wasn't our purpose. The actual course wasn't very scenic or interesting but the finish was at the historic PANATHENAIC STADIUM in Athens and after we finished, we hiked up to the top of the Acropolis, AWESOME! The best part was sharing the experience with my dad and sister. Anna

P.S. Check out the MNRed Team name in my results attached.

Hey gang,

My friend in Cincinnati ran Chicago - her first full. Before that, she did the Flying Pig relay in May 2008 and then her first 1/2 at Flying Pig 2009.

I'd like to send her something fun - was there a website that had lots of fun running/marathon tee-shirts for women?

Lemme know where to find that site, or other ideas for a good gift.
(I have no idea if she'll do another - I don't know how she trained for this one with 4 kids and a husband working 100 hr weeks...)

Stevebaby
